Walk Leaders Residential April 2023

Walk Leaders residential held at Lea Green Activity Centre in Matlock, Derbyshire between March 31st and April 1st 2023.

During the residential participants were led on some local historical outdoor walks and experienced some fun activities. In the main workshops participants learned about the skills needed to organise and lead a walk.

Walk leader training sessions were delivered by Mountain Training UK with additional information from the British Mountaineering Council.

Aisha Speaks

Aisha from Sheffield’s Bengali community talks about how two Sheffield based charities, ROSHNI and Sheffield Environmental Movement, helped her through a challenging time in her life. This is a recording of a speech she delivered during and event to celebrate the contributions of BAMER charities and volunteers hosted by Sheffield City Council in January 2023. The event was attended by third sector orgnisations from across the city.

Radio Interview on Nature, The Best Medicine?

Our CEO and founder Maxwell A Ayamba BEM, recently appeared on Voice Of Islam Radio. During the Drive Time Show, presenters Imam Safeer Zartasht Khan and Imam Reheel Ahmad spoke to Maxwell about Minoritised communities and  SEM’s work encouraging more participation and greater access to green spaces for people of colour.

The show featured several other guests speaking about how the natural environment is important to our wellbeing.
