Meet Mahmood Hussain, who has a many years experience in youth & community engagement and is now our newest board member!

Mahmood came to Sheffield in 1968 and have been a pillar in the Fir Vale Community and a respected member of the community.

Mahmood has also worked tirelessly over the years to put Sheffield College on the map of educational attainment and excellence, supporting and enabling especially ESOL students mostly refugees and other immigrants to achieve their goals in this country.

Mahmood is passionate about the environment and has over the years worked hard to promote access to and participation in the natural environment for the Muslim community in Sheffield.

The International Conference Culture & Mental Health 2022 was hosted by Dr. Guislain Museum and Iedereen Leest in co-operation with University Ghent Ghent Social Work and Social Pedagogy, University College London Arts and Science and Ghent University Library.

SEM’s CEO had the opportunity to meet Trudy Harrison, the new Minister for the Environment at the House of Lords on Tuesday November 15th 2022 read more here. The Minister spoke at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Groundwork Trust UK.

King Edward VII School in Sheffield was the venue for the prestigious Schools’ Climate Assembly 2022 This significant event was attended by 1,500 young people on 20.10.22.

Our CEO Maxwell Ayamba was part of the guest panel and he spoke about the importance of our climate and how it impacts on our health and wellbeing.
