Watch our videos of participants from the health group Thalassaemia South Yorkshire reflect on what they learned during a medicinal plant workshop. The workshop was led in part by a trained herbalist from Derbyshire. Hosted by Sheffield Environmental Movement, this environmental engagment workshop was supported by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund.

Launched in 2015, Thalassaemia South Yorkshire ‘is a unique needs lead voluntarly services which is confidential and culturally sensitive in its approach to all members of the community.’

Feedback and participation from our key groups has been fantastic! Thank you to our funders for making these activities possible.

The Green Recovery Challenge Fund supports nature projects across England. The fund has been developed by Defra, Natural England, the Forestry Commission, and the Environment Agency in partnership with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Natural England Report 2021

Walk for Health at Scafell Summit July 2017

SEM’s Maxwell Ayamba has contributed to a recent report by Climate Reach for Natural England.

The report called ‘Nature Visuals: Diversity in images of England’s green and natural spaces’ was commissioned in December 2021.

The Study provides evidence of the need to; ‘increase engagement with nature and climate through effectively diversifying images of people and nature. The report concludes that featuring a more diverse range of people in publications, adverts and across various media, would encourage a diverse range of people to engage in natural landcapes and environmental issues. You can read Maxwell’s contribution by downloading the report. The link takes you to a Climate Outreach website report information page, you can download the free report on this page.
