Widening participation in the Natural Environment
OPAL Surveys
We use Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) an environmental citizenship science initiative to explore, ask questions and gives a hands-on experience with nature. Whatever your age, background or level of ability. OPAL has been used to enhance outdoor learning in schools and among community groups as it is easy to use, without having knowledge of basic science.
Outdoor Learning
We offer a wide range of activities for schools and colleges helping children and young people in Sheffield explore local natural and built environments. Our team have many years experienced at delivering activities that engage students at all levels and abilities. See our case studies and examples of our previous work.
Countryside Discovery
The English countryside is one of our greatest assets and hidden attractions worth discovering!
Guided Walks
Our Guided walks can help people discover new places & learn about the cultural and ecological history of the local and wider environments as well as diverse landscapes. Its important in helping people from urbanised communities reconnect with nature.
Day Visits
Our activities are dependent on funding so get in touch if your group would like to get involved.
Foraging
Foraging for wild plants helps people to learn about their heritage for example, the history and uses of different plant species in England. Plants are key to our existence as they have been used traditionally for generations for food, as herbal medicine.
